Jan Bryars 

Date of appointment: 06/09/2016

Jan spent 25 year working in the Fashion and Textile Industry as a designer, technical director, change management, HR quality assurance and quality management systems. She also worked in social compliance auditing worldwide working with NGOs and employment lawyers establishing factories abroad, moving plant from UK and implementing management systems as well as managing redundancies. She has also been part of the management of a property holding company.

Jan is an active member of my local church and am currently a Lay Pioneer Minister at St Peter’s Church taking an active role in the community and she is passionate about the charities she supports.  She has a significant level of involvement in church and community based voluntary projects and Ecumenical and Interfaith projects in Oadby and Wigston. In addition to this, she chairs  Oadby Remembers 1914-1918 research project and Oadby & Wigston Multi Cultural Group. Jan also work with Kennedy House asylum seekers in South Wigston, co coordinating integration initiatives.

Micky Johal

Mickey is a Qualified FCA with ten years’ experience in corporate finance mergers and acquisitions and integration. He has been responsible for the identification, approach, negotiation and successful completion of strategic acquisitions as well as the ongoing integration.

He has the experience of being able to plan, lead and manage a deal from beginning to end autonomously.  A key part of the role is deal origination, developing existing and new relationships as well as the overall management of the project. Mickey also provide strategic advice, recommendations and proposals to the PLC Board on acquisitions and integration strategy, as well ensuring projects are managed from a cost, quality and delivery perspective.

Mickey has subsequently set up his own mergers and acquisitions company.

 

Richard Green

Richard is in  business as a landscape gardener, employing a number of people. He is a practical and logical thinker applying my analytical skills to all aspects of school life. He has previously taken part and led in extracurricular activities in schools.  Richard has a good understanding of school finances from his role as governor as well as bringing expertise from his work place.

Richard was a Governor for many years and now as a Member he wants to ensure all children receive the best as he has clear understanding of the importance of high standards alongside the development of citizenship.

Mike Kapur - OBE - Lord Lieutenant for the County of Leicestershire

Mike is the Queen’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Leicestershire and a leading businessman who plays a keen and active role in developing and promoting the city and county he made home 30 years ago. Mike has 23 successful years of Boardroom experience in both private and public sector organisations, recognised in my appointment in 2013 to one of the Confederation of British Industry’s most important roles of Head of Enterprise Forum, a position from which he leads the CBI’s work in respect of SME’s and he acts as a national figurehead for SME members and their issues including interfacing with Government and European Commission on their behalf.

Mike started his career in 1985 as the senior manager responsible for audit and business advisory services at KPMG. In 2012,he founded Signum Corporate Communications Ltd where he retains responsibility for ensuring all aspects of company strategy are implemented and performance managed.

Amongst many non-executive roles, he has served as a non-executive director at Leicester Royal Infirmary and following a merger in 2000 with two other large Hospitals, was retained as Deputy Chairman of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, then the third largest trust in the UK.

In 2009, Mike joined the Board of De Montfort University and is honoured to be Pro Chancellor of the University and am the Chair of the university’s Audit Committee. He became Chairman of the National Space Centre where he has endeavoured to instil a strong sense of world-class standards and a focus on the long term. In 2014, Mike was named Non-Executive Director of the Year at the Leicestershire Business Awards. He is also a non-Executive director of Learning and Work Institute, on the Board of Trustees of Leicester Football Club Trust and a Trustee of Warning Zone.

Helen Elliott
 

Date of appointment: 25/1/2022

Helen was a headteacher within Leicestershire before retiring.  She has significant experience of senior leadership within schools as well as leading headteacher groups within the locality where she worked.  Helen has a good understanding of the requirements of school improvement and she is not afraid to provide the challenge to leaders. 

Helen was previously a governor / trustee at Odyssey Trust prior to joining Scholars Academy Trust.  Helen is able to provide the Trust with educational knowledge and skills complementing and enhancing the skills within the members.
